But please realize that until we also do something to reign in the "Big Four" Public Accounting firms and their self-regulated global oligopoly the financial crises will continue in industry after industry. The Enron meltdown happened in the energy industry. This current crisis is in the banking industry. All financial crises have one main thing in common--their financial statements had been grossly incorrect for years, yet the public accountants are rarely held accountable for the co-conspirator role they've played.
